Hi David - Gain staging is all about managing the signal to the desired level of headroom. So if I add a hot EQ like a pultec (which typically increases db), I'll go back and check to ensure the "input" signal is at -6db and adjust down as necessary. Same principle applies to parallel compression (I use a dbx 160) and if I happen to push hard on that, I'll always go back and ensure the input signal is at -6db

Hi David - I gain stage ALL tracks... This ensures you get the desired headroom you're looking for. Again it's about the "input" signal... which is on the far left of my Softube Console 1 panel... The volume faders in logic can vary though.
