N-400 Application for Naturalization/Citizenship: based on 5 Years of Residence
To apply for naturalization based on 5 years of residence, you must meet the following requirements: • Age: Be at least 18 years old. • Lawful Admission: Have lawful permanent resident status in the U.S. • Continuous Residence: Reside continuously in the U.S. for five years after lawful admission. • Physical Presence: Be physically present in the U.S. for at least 30 months (913 days) within those five years. • Residence in State or USCIS District: Live in the state or USCIS district where you're applying for at least 3 months prior to the application. • Good Moral Character: Demonstrate good moral character for five years before applying and continue through naturalization. • Attachment to the U.S. Constitution: Show commitment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution. • English Language Proficiency: Be able to read, write, and speak basic English. • Knowledge of U.S. History and Government: Understand basic U.S. history and government. You must also comply with all other naturalization requirements unless specific exemptions apply.
